I was in the hotel Saturday morning and it was fairly early. A friend that went to WWC was up and looking online a comic related sites. He is new to comics and WAS mostly a Marvel guy, who has since converted to DC. Anyway, he was trying to cram some DC knowledge in his head before heading to the convention. All of a sudden he says “Michael Turner died” I was shocked and said no way. He began to ask me some questions about him and told him that I thought that his cancer was in remission.
When we got to the convention we realized that no one knew that he passed away. Not surprisingly since it happen at about 1am that morning and we just happen to be on the right site….at the wrong time. Once we went in to the Spawn panel there was a remembering of sorts from Wizard and gasping from the fans.
Next we went in to a DC panel and Dan Didio had some kind words and story of how he was dedicated to the fans. He also told the panel that Geoff Johns went to be with the Turner family and friends.
Here is part of Dan speaking from WWC….
OK I went to the first two Wizard Worlds there ever were.  Then I realized none of my family cared to go anymore and I stopped.  Well I am going back to WW Chicago and I am excited. I am hoping that things are bigger and better than the first ones I went to.
I am going for Thursday night, Friday and Saturday, not Sunday.  I am hoping to get a scoop or two to report on for Custom Justice, maybe some custom art for CJ and some pics and video of the whole thing.  Check back for more WW Chicago upates to come!
