Well, there was a revamp of the character a pair of years ago in the Wonder Woman comics by Phil Gimenez, with a new angleman no longer in sapndex, but in regular stylish clothes... dunno if he is still alive.

Going back to the original question: Am I mad? Not really. I try to avoid it happening, so either I go for obscure characters I know they will not do in plastic (an example is my Argent custom) or I try to guess which of the non-obscure characters they may not do.

But with the JLU you never know, as the line has resurrected so many times from the ashes. So I started my Black Vulcan custom... and then Mattel announces the Superfriends 3pack! I do Jay Garrick and Alan Scott and then Mattel announces the Golden Age 3 pack! In both cases I was surprised, but at the same time relieved when I saw the photos and, as Tex says, I usually liked my customs more. An exception to this is when I saw the JLU Robotman: I had made a custom some years ago using a Toy Biz Cosmic Silver Surfer, and I was quite happy with the result... until I saw Mattel's.

Sometimes I'm lucky and I can stop in time. I had an extra JLU Harley Quinn to do a Livewire custom... and then I saw Mattel's one in time to stop the project.

So just in case Toy Guru and his staff are reading thhis... Keep 'em coming, Mattel!

The same thing has been happening to me lately but with DCUC instead of JLU.

I have two half finished Starmen both Jack and Ted which I started and got almost finished before Mattly announced theirs. and there have ben a few others.
