Mongul in July plus more info!

As part of AFI questions here's some info on the next 3 packs coming out. Mongul will be in July and Static will be in August. I'm surprised that they aren't doing some of the older packs first. Here's his reply...

A3.  This will be confirmed at SDCC. The first pack will go on sale in July and will be Mongul. After that it is every month until they are done! Future Static is in Aug.

That was my question, and I'm glad we got a couple of answers. I'm not really sure why they feel like they need to wait until SDCC to make that full announcement though.

Not surprising at all.  Mattel recently sent out a press kit to some of the sites that included Mongul & Static packaged samples. 

Mongul was one of the most highly demanded overall, and Static is way overdue for Dwayne. 

I doubt seriously that there will be anymore surprises, but I long ago gave up saying never with the little line that could lol.

1. regular Mongul
2. Yellow Lantern Mongul
3. Mongal
4. one to cast
5. Black Lantern Mongul (Mongul Sr. should have been a Black Lantern)

I would think that they want to start off with the packs that they believe will be most in demand. I would say that the Toyman pack would be #1 but since he got reshuffled in with Dr. Destiny and Firefly that pack has got to the farthest from completion. 

I don't expect them to have any announcements for JLU, asides the dates for the other four 3 packs...and the line is officially done.

Since these are the last 6 packs ... I don't know that demand really matters to them anymore. I really doubt a quick sell out on Mongul would prompt them to increase the production quantity of another pack. At this point they know it's just the JLU diehards that are going to be picking them up.

I agree with you on the demand part. I was thinking more in line of the execs who might be looking at the sales numbers. Even though the line is done and this is it, I'm sure someone is going to be looking at the numbers, someone ToyGuru answers to. I would much rather this run start off strong with Mongul than say the Guy pack (which I think will sell the least) if I had convinced a new management team to sign off on it.

question, why would you cast a mongul when you have one?
Question, why would you use mongul to make mongal?  I just dont see how that would work.

I myself am planning on getting a few but not to make mongul related customs.  I already have a prototype, so I'll probably get 3, 2 for the customs and 1 to have the "real" version

I can see using Mongul for Mongal ... just add the bosoms and long hair.

My question would be ... if you're going to cast him, why not just get 2? One to keep and one to cast.

thats what i was thinking.  why not just buy 2 instead of casting one to be the second.

Honestly Lou I'm just glad Static is in the first batch.  I always felt it would have been crappy if he was tooled and never made.
